The level of difficulty of the exam varies from person to person. Students who have done their entire education in English find the exam less difficult, while students from a non-English speaking background may find the exam very difficult. IELTS result has a validity of 2 years, so once you have given the exam and got your desired IELTS Result, you can utilize the score for only 2 years.

In case of academic students, the band score required for IELTS depends on the level of course you are going for and the country you are going. Most countries would require 6.0 band to 6.5 Band score in IELTS.

If you are planning to Study in Canada you will need a minimum IELTS Score of 6.5Band overall with no band less than 6.0. Some courses may also require a score of 7.0 Band.

If you are planning to Migrate to Canada, you would ideally required a 8+ Band Score, however your immigration consultant would be in a better position to confirm the IELTS score required as per your profile.

If you are planning to Study in UK you are better of giving the IELTS Exam as it is more widely accepted.
